Q4 2020 Market Review

By January 14, 2021August 11th, 2021No Comments

International investments outperformed US investments for the 4th quarter of 2020, although US investments have performed better for the full year 2020 and the decade 2010 to 2020. Small company stocks greatly outperformed large company stocks during Q4 2020, with the Russell 2000 index (Small Company) doing 33.36% just for the quarter, while the S&P 500 index (Large Company) did 12.15% for the quarter. In other words, investors who gave up on small cap stocks after the first 3 quarters of 2020 (when they had been behind) missed out on over 33% gain in just one quarter. This is why we recommend clients consistently remain diversified into all asset classes.
